SPOILERS: I went into this anime hearing lots of positive reviews from notable people in the community, and just from the first glance I was excited to see a unique art style (I celebrate any anime with a unique art style). Thus, I somewhat enjoyed the first 5 episodes of Devilman Crybaby. Sure, there was quite a bit of needless violence and gore, but it wasn't too bad and there was enough of a developing cast of characters that I was interested. This all changed soon after. Episode 6 is where the show took an immediate turn for the shit. Character motivations in this episode and aftermade no sense. Devilmen that we were led to believe were bad were suddenly good, but then bad and then maybe good again. Characters were brutally killed for no reason other than what I assume is supposed to be entertainment, and any semblance of character development and plot in the previous episodes was destroyed.

Devilman Crybaby couldn't even pull off a satisfying climax, as everyone in the entire world was dead for literally no reason. If the anime was trying to say something deep about the cruelty of humanity, then it's message was completely lost on me. The good soundtrack and unique art style were not nearly enough to make up for everything that this show did wrong.
