Review of Food Wars! The Fourth Plate
This season is supposed to be the biggest event in the entire series. All the trainings and the battles from the previous seasons were built for the regiment de cuisine and opposing the best chefs of totsuki academy. However, as an audience, this tournament is the most boring and predictable of all. It has something to do with the concept being overused in the series. The large amount of matches made me bored and wanted the arc to end. Also, most matches were rushed in order to compress battles in an episode or two. Despite these things, the development of characters were lived up to itsfullest potential. All the rebels got their spotlight; whether it may be a win or a loss, it resulted to their flourishing.
Opening and ending song were mediocrely done, unlike the preceding songs. The OST felt like the show is a battle manga which i think is not a good thing to maintain the high quality level of a cooking anime.
It is not bad, though. It it not just as intense as the previous seasons because of its predictable plot. Nonetheless, they made up for the bland portrayal by tweaking the last episode and giving more details that were not showed in the manga. The last episode could be a wonderful conclusion showing how shokugeki has been a culture of fun and camaraderie through cooking.
