It is weird, very different from season 1. When i saw it, the reaction was as I expected. There is nothing wrong with season 1. Apart from it just being a bait to pull in shonen audience, which whether we like it or not. Are the biggest reason anime is popular in the first place. The writer was out of his mind if he thinks season 2 was gonna have the same success the first season did. You can have character development. But devoting the entire season 2 to it was not gonna retain the massive audience you had. Now, I realize to thatseason 1 Thorfinn was the most unlikable character ever. However his development came across in this pacisfist, ''everyone who fights is bad'' way. Very preachy and out of touch. I know the writer does not like violence, however there is nothing wrong with fighting back against the system. Season 2 is more of a psychological journey of Thorfinn as he looks for reasons's to live. If you want to see a broken man turn to farming and regain his human side. Then this is the anime for you. I enjoyed it. I do not have to see flashy fights every episode to like something. The backlash was expected though. Don't feed the shonen audience epic fights and animation, then turn around and make a farming and character development anime in season 2. For the story it makes sense. I think it is needed because of season one's ending.

Overall I would recommend people to watch it. If you are only interested in epic fights this is not for you. If you actually care about how Thorfin turns into a normal human being. Then go ahead.
