I hate historic dramas. I also dislike musical shows, and japaneese music, pop in particular. So, if you're like me, there's one thing I'd like you to hear from me: don't miss watching this anime. It's a great 'starter' show, and after watching it I could see myself watching some other historical and maybe musical anime after all. Even though I'm quite sure other anime in this genre can't really compare with it. What is really well done in this show is probably the restraint in which the different genres are given to the viewer. There is historical mumbling about such and such battle in xxx AD, andthis and that strategy, but they stop piling it on before someone who's less than interested in such matters gets bored. There are japaneese pop songs sung by main character, but rather than them, the main focus is 'backstage', and how audience is being pulled into listening to them. And with how highly different ancient history and modern pop are, the show really never gets boring thanks to the genres being skillfully juggled to keep you hooked on.

I'm very glad I watched this anime in the end, and I hope you'll be as well. However, if, after watching first 2 episodes you don't enjoy the show, you can probably drop it, since there are no drastic changes in how story progresses from episode 2 forward.
