Review of Samurai Champloo

So i have never written a review about an anime before, that's because i struggle at putting what i think into words, but with this show i feel like i can do it. So, here we go. Story (7/10): This show does not really have a big end goal it's just 3 people on a journey to find a certain samurai that smells like sunflowers, as such each episode is different from the other and you never really know what the gang will bump into next. A lot of wild ideas are thrown around in the show that you don't see everywhere. For example: there isan episode where Samurai play baseball, BASEBALL! It's a simple and creative story, and i love it for that.

Art (9/10):
The art in this show goes HARD, every fight scene is smooth as butter and the choreography is stunning. There are a lot of cinematic shots in this show, you could take a screenshot of any moment in the show and i doubt it would look bad.

Sound (10/10):
The soundtrack in this show is weird, it really shouldn't work, but it does. The soundtrack is completely made out of lofi-hip hop tracks, wich does not sound like a good idea right? Well they play it the whole time and it just fits for some reason, somebody could get killed and you'd hear lofi in the background. The only vocal tracks are in the op and ed wich i cannot praise enough, the op really fits the style of the show and slaps crazy hard. The ed is also fantastic, it gives off that summer night feel, wich lined up perfect for me cause its almost summer again. All and all the sound is crazy good in this show.

Characters (8/10):
I'll start with talking about the side characters: most of them are great. They always fit the mood of the episode and sometimes got a good chuckle out of me. And none of them overstay their welcome either, once the story that involves them is over they are never seen again, wich really gives the show a realistic feel, everyone is on their own journey and they will be gone as soon as they appeared.

So now it's time for the main characters: Fuu, Jin and Mugen. Fuu, i think is the weakest of the bunch she doesn't serve much purpose beside acting as a bridge between the other two, but i don't really dislike her, her personality is a bit shifty but it does not hurt the show all too much. Alright now about Jin..... yeah he's great. He barely says anything but there is a lot beneath that silent behavior of his, i really like his relationship with Mugen as well, they just bounce off each other so well. And finally Mugen, the fierce one of the group with a rich personality that will be hard to hate. This cast works very well, i had to warm up to them at first but once that happened
i just sat back and enjoyed the ride.

Enjoyment (8/10):
Like i said, it took a few episodes for me to really get into the show, but once i was it was great fun. Nothing mind-blowing or anything just a fun adventure with some amazing action, humor and decent drama here and there.

Overall (9/10):
Samurai Champloo is a banger of a show with great art, audio and characters. The story is simple, but it works fine for what it is. The main thing i took away from it is something that i had heard many times before but it never quite sank in: it's not about the destination, it's about the journey.

Thanks for your time.
