Review of Bakemonogatari
Bakemonogatari review Bakemonogatari is the preparation stage where our characters make their debut using a unique animation art style made by Shaft studio and the writing style of Nisio Isin for the plot and story. Bakemonogatari is divided in many story arcs , each arc focuses on a different character solving their problems symbolized by the “aberrations” with the help of our main character Araragi and the masterfully use of the dialogue for the characterization and plot. Each arc is connected and contribute for the further development of the relationship between Araragi and Senjougahara which is the main focus of theplot and story in Bakemonogatari.
Bakemonogatari uses each subtle detail from the dialogue lines to evidentiate the characters traits and speech habits. To make it more realistic for the viewer the anime uses a unique camera angle to portray each character’s insight on the situation or the other person during a conversation.
The dialogue is the essence for the characterization and presentation of the characters in Bake.We have Senjougahara the cynical and cruel tsundere who says harsh words to Araragi but caring for him deep in her heart. Araragi who is a typical generic male character but his actions and influence on other characters contribute a lot for the story and plot. Taking his time to speak with each girl and understand their problems we found out more about his traits and background story. Bake gives importance to his minor characters and uses them for the plot and the characterization of the main characters Araragi and Senjougahara.
In each arc , the anime manages to portray aspects from the human drama and human nature. For example the Hitagi crab and Lost Snail arc portrays the disconnected relationship between children and parents from our modern society, the linger of a child to be with his mother and the harsh law that forbids him. It signals a warning about the fraud of the cults and the consequences that lead in destroying families and the accidents involving children in our modern world.
The other arcs take a approach on the human mind and heart portraying jealousy ,hatred , struggle to find a place where you belong , responsibility ,love, fear, cowardness and finally the weakness inside our mind and heart. All is done with the help of the dialogue , art animation and symbolic animal “aberrations” specific for each character.
In conclusion Bakemonogatari is just one piece of the puzzle that makes the greater image called Monogatari series .It manages to use his characters and plot to deliver a good play using subtle details and dialogue for characterization , fanservice for the viewer but also using it properly in the plot and story , good ost and unique art style. A harem with generic characters that have so much to offer for plot and story granting entertainment for the viewer.
