I don't like to give 10/10 for any show that I enjoy a lot, but this anime is really one of a kind. What A-1 pictures have done here is nothing short of a masterpiece, the story develops from the viewpoint of Jintan and it shows how fall his life has fallen from his childhood, but gradually we can see beautifully done character development from everyone and we begin to feel how Jintan does with Menma and the rest of his friends. The art is great, not amazing in a sense like the works of Makoto Shinkai but the simple and not vivid nature of the artgoes well with the mellow story, very fitting.

The OP brings a calm vibe to the anime and is very much enjoyable, though what makes the soundtrack of this anime really outstanding is "Secret base" which has so much emotion and is so powerful in it's delivery. One of the best anime songs to ever be created.

I enjoyed this series a lot, maybe my most favorite as of now.

Beautiful anime.

I was crying in the last few episodes especially when Jintan confessed his love for Menma in the bridge and Menma said that "if she was to grow up normally she would have married Jintan" and at that moment I felt so sad for Menma as she was never given a chance to grow up normally and be in love in the normal sense.
The letter in the end given to Jintan really emphasized this point and I felt Jintan's pain.
