Review of School Days

School Days is a tough show to rate. It's like a fiery, explosive train wreck that I just couldn't look away from. I can't even say whether or not this show is bad, because I don't actually know what the creators of this show were trying to do. Is it meant to be awful? Because the writing, pacing, and characters are all HORRIBLE. This show's main character is the most despicable character ever created in fiction, and every female in the show is an idiot who wants to sleep with him despite him lacking any good qualities whatsoever. Thisshow is SO bad, in fact, that the only way for me to finish watching it was to believe this show is satire. I had to believe that it's a parody of all those stupid, sappy, high school bishoujo romantic comedies that are a dime a dozen. And in that regard, it is a resounding success. I found all of the characters' decisions and dialogue absolutely hysterical. I watched this show during my lunch breaks at work, and my coworkers were asking why the hell I was laughing so hard. To me, this show is like "The Room" and "Troll 2" of anime. It's remarkably entertaining if you don't take it seriously, and I found it hard to take it seriously anyways based on how unbelievably idiotic all of the characters are.

Is School Days a terrible show? Yes.

Is it supposed to be bad? I have no idea.

What I do know is that if you don't take this show seriously, you can enjoy it for the horrible dumpster fire that it is. The ending is one of the biggest must-see moments in anime.
