Review of Sword Art Online
I doubt anyone who is looking at Sword Art Online reviews actually knows nothing about it.. The chances you know of this site and don't know SAO is very low, so most likely you're just here to see what other people think of this show. For those who actually don't know.. Here is a quick summary, if you want more then read all these other good and detailed reviews. Sword Art Online is very entertaining and tasty at first; compare it to eating a mountain of swiss cheese, at first tasty but as you start beingbored of the same taste you start seeing the cheese is full of holes. You confirm that you would enjoy having this cheese on a sunny side up egg, with toast and a healthy bit of butter, and a slab of bacon, mmmm-Mmm! Tasty bacon cheese sandwich!! That is SAO! Minus the sandwich and the promised bacon is denied to you.. siiigh, all the lies! SAO Tastes good for the first few episodes but starts getting old. Before it can get too stale tasting it ends with some HYPE and a plot twist that looks decent on a show such as this to be honest. I'd give it a 7.4-8 maybe, being one of those niche 14 episode anime to be noted and remembered and re-done better by a more dedicated studio. But instead of ending with subpar tasty cheese with the hope of an epic sandwich later on... It just continues with yet MORE DAMN CHEESE!!
In comparison to many anime it does have HYPE, it does do combat well, it does make the main character feel badass until you realize that character is CHEESE. If it ended a lot earlier (ep 14), it wouldn't have been bad.. Yes the potential was very high indeed, it could have been epic.. It could have been a 10. But this sad slab of cheese was and will be found wanting.
Masterpiece BACON CHEESE SANDWICH- DENIED. If you want to be "entertained" without thinking much, then sure watch SAO. Even watch all SAO, and you'll be entertained even as the continent plot holes create a damn MOUNTAIN of CHEESE.. Just make sure not to turn on your brain while your at it and it'll be a sufficient waste of time instead of a royal waste of time.
