Review of School Days

Ill be straightforward with everyone, the main reason i am writing this review is because i want to eradicate the severe headache i obtained after watching this miserable anime. Story: 4 At first glance School days may seem like any ordinary romance, drama genre anime, but as you continue watching, you may or may not realize that you are in fact watching a potential hentai. From what i see, all the story really provides is the main character's hungry pursuit for lust, and how he sleeps with about half the women in his classroom. A 3rd rate romance novelist could probably write a better story in lessthan a day. Now of course every now and then we are confronted with a dramatic scene, which (unfortunately) most often ends with the main character (Itou Makoto) sleeping with yet another woman...how brilliant! If they gave me the script for this anime id feed it to my dog, but then again, even he might get sick from something so horrendous.

The art is nothing special, its the commonly used style you see in most low budget anime. Its not completely bad though, because school days is ecchi it does try to portray the women in a particularly seductive way (especially episode 5 which is mainly fan service). Other than that though there's nothing to admire. Its not unique and sometimes you may have trouble telling the woman apart, things like eye color and hair style is what makes them look different but they're almost all similar structure wise which is pretty inconvenient. Its bearable enough though, nothing that might make you cringe. Oh and the director obviously wanted to take blood to the next level so for he opted for black instead of the traditional red...Genius...

Sound? ha, let me tell you this, the opening song once caused me a headache so bad, that i decided to stop watching for the day. Absolutely horrible choice with the opening and all the ending songs (there's more than one). If i met the sound director face to face id have to question his motive behind selecting such irritating music. The soundtrack doesn't present even one catchy tune, its all bland and boring music that could put you to sleep in a moments notice if not for the dialogue.

Character: 2
The main reason i gave this anime such a low rating is due to the characters, every single one of them. Though there is character development, it does not make up for how imbecilic they can actually be, for There was not a single character i found entertaining or even decent to say the least. All the characters in School Days seem to have only one role each, in most situations they confront you see them doing the same darn thing over and over again till it gets tediously predictable and very uninteresting. School days' main character, Itou Makoto, is my most disliked and hated character i have ever encountered in the history of all anime i have ever watched. He befits the term "man whore" perfectly, why? because iv never seen a man that sleeps with 8 different women while "devoting" himself to his "girlfriend" . He has no concept of love in his life, and he will only pay attention to a woman if he thinks she is "cute". He is the type of man that would date a girl one day and sleep with another the next, and so forth, in other words...a pathetic leeching cheater...Way to go main character! the women that love him are all annoying as well, often making stupid decisions in obvious scenarios, and they regret every action they do as soon its over. You could even convince yourself that a part of their brain is actually missing.

Sometimes while watching school days i would close my eyes for a couple of seconds or stare at my ceiling, because i know i wont be missing anything important if i did. Its not entirely boring though, sometimes School Days presents internal conflicts that are unpredictable and might catch you by surprise, mainly because of how stupid the final decision turns out to be. You'll often find yourself unconsciously face palming at how simple minded these characters actually are.

If you bother watching this anime, (which i highly recommend not to, for a do not want you to go through the same torture i endured) then you will probably end up with an awkward feeling in your gut, so awkward that you might actually build a time machine to return the precious time that was taken from you while watching this sad let down of an anime. If your looking for a enjoyable Romance, Drama anime, then i highly recommend you search somewhere else.
