Review of Hunter x Hunter

Alongside Fullmetal a show ill never understand how it can be so highly rated. Not that i didnt like it. I did. But its just nothing special. First of all ONE OP for almost 150 episodes. As with any similar show like Dragon Ball. No OP is that good. I mean i like Departure. But again no OP is that good. In regards to music though the original BGM is great, although falls short compared to pretty much every other great and highly rated shounen. (Naruto/Fairy tail/Bleach/One Piece and so on). Hunter X Hunters biggest issue is lack of story. There really is non. Gonis just on an adventure. Oh yeah he is looking for his father. But there seems to be if no significance and barely touched upon. Its mostly just a really simple battle shounen. Previously mentioned shounens all had a big story to follow and tons of world lore.

Hunter X Hunter does have some great characters though. Their backstories. Personality. Motivations.

Its quality is very arc by arc though. Opening is very slow. Only got good at the end of heavenly arena by the last fight. Then right after itd best part with Yorknew. That arc by itself is easily a 9/10 and one of the better shounen arcs eclipsing even arcs from again previously mentioned shows. But it never reaches those highs again with the end to the ant arc coming closest. But other than that everything else is fairly by the book battle shounen.

I do recommend it. Especially if you enjoy a more simple battle shounen. Then it might reach a 9/10. If you want more story. Well then it wont reach higher than a 7/10 since there isnt much story here.
