Review of Ghost Stories

This review is for the dub. Where do i even start with this one? The dub is amazing, but not as a typical anime. This is an abridged series long before the trend of abridged series on youtube. The main story is a typical episodic ghost anime so generic, i can see why the original failed so miserably in japan. But this format does have merits for the abridged dub, as it left the voice actors open to come into their own versions of the characters. Each bland character now has their own distinct personality and character defects. The amount of blatant racism in thisshow is astoundingly hilarious, with enough jew jokes to make south park jealous. For some reason the voice actors rip specifically on christian slater almost every episode. I dont know why this is, but i suspect it has to do with his outburst which was a hot topic at the time. The animation is mediocre, and the music is ripped note for note from inuyasha. After doing a bit of research i discovered that the composer worked on the two shows simultaneously, and this leads me to believe that the composer used unfinished inuyasha songs just to get it done. Overall this anime deserves the notoriety it has claimed. Despite the garbage source material, the dub deserves a watch from any fan who needs a break from serious anime.
