Review of Fate/Zero
Hi, so if you are probably reading this, you are most likely looking for answers on questions like, wherether you should watch this, is it worth it or even is this the right one to start the whole series with. Note that this is mostly a review on these particular two seasons of Fate/Zero, because if I did a review on all of Fate/Series it would be a VERY long review. (Even this one I'm not sure about.) BUT NO WORRIES, this will not contain any spoilers, because the story is great and I want for everyone to enjoy it as much as I andeveryone else did.
SO, LET'S BEGIN!
Since I want for this review to be as short as possible I will start from the most important question that I mentioned last "Is this the one to start with?" and to that I say yes, you should probably watch this one, because you will get a lot more context for a lot of characters, that will be in the next chapter Fate/Stay Night (whole 3 routes). The reason why I said whole 3 routes, is because every single version of Fate/Stay night has a different ending, so you will probably want to watch it all, starting with the oldest one. If want to know more about Fate/Series watch order, I will link a video, which explains it well. Now back to the chase.
The last two questions will kinda have a combined answer.
When I started to watch the Fate/Series, I pretty much did it to just understand what the fuss was all about and I didn't pay much attention, since I played the anime in background while I was doing some stuff so (*And here comes the hate) I dropped it. BUT it wasn't for the reason that it was bad, it was because I got to a point where I realised that it's not an anime that you should play in the background XD, because there is also A LOT of stuff happening and you really need watch closely and pay attention, to not miss anything (to which I did a lot), so that's why I stopped and added it to my own watch list. And after about 2 to 3 years later I started to see new Fate/Stuff coming out, which reminded me to actually rewatch it and so I did and I bloody loved it (also I felt a little bit depressed, that I didn't watch it fully the first time). Why am I mentioning all of this, well it is to make you understand that it's not some tipical type of anime, this is actually some unique stuff, atleast these two (Fate/Zero and Fate/Stay).
SO... As for the story..
Like I mentioned, there is a lot of stuff going on, in the actual plot, characters and their interactions. And I also noticed a lot of questionable decisions like the ones that, for example, Kiritsugu did (Like the fucking plane *facepalm). I don't know how it was for others, but I had already thought of another way to do some things that the characters did. I think that's a small flaw (The unrealistic realisticness?) So that's definitely a thing that you'll see, but otherwise the characters are really good and every single one of them is unique which great. The story itself is very well written and I saw a lot of plotpoints in the there, where it could unravel in SO many ways, but I'm glad that the writer did it this way, because the ending fits the the next chapter very well. Also I do understand why they made Fate/Zero by the time that they did, because some of the things needed really good animation and to do it 5 or 6 years earlier, would've been a waste and even pretty hard to make, plus it's the start of the series, which means it needs to be good not only storywise, but also visually. If you like lots of fights, betrayals and kind of strategic thinking and a bunch of other stuff, this is for you, plus it's written in a way, where once you get into it, you will never be bored for a second.
Finally, I give these two seasons a 9.5/10, for it's amazing everything, I would've given it a solid 10, but since it had those, sometime weird decisions from the characters, I simply couldn't (A smart character, needs to be smart). I hope I've said enough to make you understand if you should watch it and hope that you will enjoy it as much as I did. PEACE!
