Review of Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion
I truly enjoyed this season even though I'm not a fan of mecha animes. The writing is fantastic. It allows the viewers to deepen into the mind and feelings of the main characters, especially Lelouch. All of his fears and strategic thoughts as well as his mental instabilities. It is shocking to see him go from behaving like a caring brother to completely losing his mind falling into the temptations that come along with power. The best thing about his character development is that he's not the always good character fighting for his beloved ones, he also shows traces of selfishness and aloofness, regretting some ofhis choices after shifting back to sanity and realizing their consequences.
The animation is smooth and dynamic, quite good for its time.
Unfortunately, two things are stopping it from being perfect. One is the pacing. Even though the series has plenty of episodes, they don't feel enough. There's a constant feeling of it being rushed. The other flaw is that, sometimes, the plot armour of some characters is too evident. Nonetheless it doesn't interfere with the overall enjoyment of the series.
