Review of School Days

I appreciate that it's not your typical romance anime and that the story has a darker tone. I like that it's established Makoto is seen as attractive by the girls, while in most other harem series the protagonist is just some guy with average looks. The animation is ok, not impressive but at least consistent. My main problems with the series are the characters and the ending. The characters are extremely simple, uninteresting and unidimensional, Setsuna, in particular is just the archetype of a quiet loli and literally nothing more than that. Sekai is the exception, while she is still not really complex, she ismore interesting than the rest, she is the best character imo. Makoto being a scumbag is fitting for the type of story the series it's trying to be. Kotonoha, once again, a really simple character.

The ending is waaaay too extreme, feels like it's just there to shock the viewer and nothing else. If it had better characters and a not so over the top ending, it would be a much better series.

Overall, it's an OK series. Worth watching at least once.
