Review of Black Lagoon

“Corpse and medal, it’s things. When you strip away all the meaning, that’s all they are” Surprisingly fun anime, that is if you're able to suspend your disbelief Story (7 : A dumb fun) There's no overarching plot. The crew got a job, they solved it. Throw in some character moment and some thrilling action sequence, tadaa there you have the story. To be fair, I have only watched the first season so this might change later after I finished the rest. There are some arcs that tackle with interesting conundrum like death of an ideals, self determination, ghost from the past, and some other. Of course it's tackledas much as you can expect from an action focused anime.

Sound (9 : a great fit)

I really love that part in the OP, that I hum it sometimes. The OP is high tempo energetic song, while the ED is somber. The BGM is quite fitting with the atmosphere too, from the chaotic mess that is Roanapur, to thrilling adrenaline packed action sequence. No complaint from me on this aspect.

Art (8 : good animation)
The animation is quite good for a technically old anime. The action sequence is quite clear to follow. The detail is also pretty good.

Character (8 : good character each with unique characteristic)
The characters are charming with their own unique flair. Each have some past that is slowly being revealed. They grow by their interaction of each other. Though, the habit of throwing one liner (usually some pop reference) in action sequence kinda irked me a bit.

Enjoyment (7 : a dumb fun)
It's enjoyable anime from start to finish. There are some nitpick like terminator level durability, enemies' stormtrooper level accuracy, annoying one liner. Though, I agree that it is definitely better than majority of Hollywood out there.
