Review of High School DxD

So I finally finished High School DxD and honestly… it was okay. I didn’t hate it, but I didn’t love it either. I watched it because I saw it’s kind of popular and people talk about it a lot, so I was curious. I thought maybe there’s something deeper behind the fanservice... but yeah, most of it wasn’t really my style. For like the first 6 episodes (or maybe more), it felt like it was mostly about a pervy guy who only thinks about boobs. 😅 Issei is always yelling about wanting a harem and boobs, and it got kinda annoying to be honest. I understandit’s a part of his character and maybe some people find it funny, but for me it got boring really fast. I kept hoping he would grow more as a person, but it didn’t really happen until later on.

After that, the story started to focus more on fights and powers and devils and stuff, and I liked that part a lot more. It actually reminded me a bit of Darling in the Franxx, especially the way the action and relationships are mixed together. The supernatural plot was kinda interesting, and I liked some of the other characters too. Akeno and Koneko were probably my favorites, they were way more chill than Issei.

The animation was pretty good in some scenes, especially during the fights. But I felt like the boobs and ecchi stuff were just everywhere, even when it didn’t really make sense or add anything. Sometimes it felt like the story had potential, but the show didn’t want to take itself seriously enough.

I wouldn’t say it’s a bad anime, just not really my thing. If you like a lot of fanservice and over-the-top humor with action and fantasy, you might enjoy it more than I did. For me it was just a "watch once and move on" kind of anime.
