9 /10

Hidamari Sketch has been a series I've had fun watching and after viewing its final season and OVAs it's decidedly made its way into one of my favorite series. Each season attempts to improve something about Sketch, and with this final season the depth established in 365 goes from a mile wide and an inch deep to a riverbed with rocks waiting to hit you with more wholesome moments than the human psyche can possibly handle. Honeycomb and the two OVAs that follow it are the best installments to the Hidamari Sketch series and I could not have been happier with the way they were handled. Story 7/10 Bynow viewers of Sketch should be familiar with how the general flow of the series works, it's cute girls doing cute things. The students face problems and their friends are there to support them. The overarching theme of this last installment is the inevitability that the girls are growing up and the two seniors are about to graduate. Even in the happiest of times this heavy feeling of sadness and loneliness permeates the air for protagonist Yuno, as happy as she wants to be for her senpais.

Art 9/10

Again, viewers who have sat through Sketch this long should be familiar with the art style and will be settled into the quickly paced animation the series offers. The coloring in this season is especially well done, as the contrast between the tone of a scene and the colors really benefit the ability to get the optimism and bittersweet feeling across.

Sound 9/10

The music. It's perfect for this season. Everything fits well and it finally feels like it belongs in every scene it's featured in. The VAs sell the emotions the protagonists go through well and without their performances throughout the series Sketch wouldn't be what it is.

Character 8/10

I gave the previous season of Sketch a hard time because it felt as if the protagonists had very little to no development. This season decides to prove in many ways how the protagonists have matured by revisiting themes and situations in which the protagonists would have reacted differently to in the first season. One such example is Yuno being able to wake up on occasion before her alarm clock sounds. The supporting characters that have taken minor roles in the girl's developments now have their time to really shine and without breaking character.

Enjoyment 8/10
Overall 9/10

Conclusion:

Hidamari Sketch wasn't a wild ride.
It was easy going and never too heavy handed, and I enjoyed that.
The ending is very bittersweet but it didn't hit me with an absolute gut punch like I was expecting it to.
It's a tame experience, it eases you in and out seamlessly and as much as I wished I could have spent more time with it, I'm glad I had the opportunity to watch it.
