Review of Redline

Redline is a visual treat. An absolute beauty in motion, thick shadows and heavy lines that blend into beautiful (if nonsensical) action. I can see why its so popular and widely recommended. Sadly, though its not really my thing. Outside of the action Redline comes up short. The cast is generic, the plot formulaic and easily predictable. And while the action scenes are DAMN cool I found myself either not really following all of it or not caring. Why they felt the fastest race conceivable would be spiced up with a random kaju battle or a sub-plot about military secrets and militant rebels sabotaging random things I don'tknow.

I'm actually a huge car buff and a bit of a racing fan. So naturally it always strikes me how race movies are always so...Wrong.

I guess its cause the appeal of racing isn't people making goofy faces or screaming constantly.
For some its the danger and crashes sure.
But for the die-hard like me its a lot of subtle engineering and nerdy technical details that I guess just wouldn't make a good movie.

Redline isn't really for racing fans like me. Its like Fast and the Furious or Mad Max. Down a beer and shut your brain off type of entertainment.
Which has its place and if you want to passively watch something this is a great pick.

But it just isn't for me and I have to be honest about that.
