Review of Akira
terrifying, beautiful, heartwarming, and heartbreaking all at the same time. the animation is amazing, incredibly detailed, and so silky smooth. the 24 frames per second makes me wanna cry. yet, the animation also has this horrifying element to it, almost in the disgusting territory. it’s just jarring enough to be great. the story kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time. though i believe the movie could have ended 15 minutes earlier and i would have been satisfied, the pacing was great and i was really invested in the story. the cast of characters are also great too; i really didn’t dislike any ofthe characters. not even the antagonists.
the soundtrack isn’t something i see many people talking about. more people should talk about it. it’s atmospheric as fuck, and it really fit the tone of this movie. i probably wouldn’t be as invested if the soundtrack wasn’t this good.
it’s not perfect. it has it faults. but akira is timeless. you could have told me this movie was released last year and i would believe you. this movie’s influence is undeniable and it definitely lived up to my expectations.
