Not exactly a review but just a comment for my own remembrance-Neon Genesis Evangelion while providing a platform for the continuation of mecha animations in the 1900's , highlighted and expressed the human emotions and thoughts which 'no one' faces or questions too deep. I believe or at least in this context of human emotions of isolation and desire and etc etc (which is shown and expressed through each character) , in ep25/26 especially this whole idea is highlighted massively and the reference to the "Eva's" and how its importance to each individual was described felt as if an "Eva" was your social construct/imagethat you withhold. They refer to it as being lost or safe or nothing without it-being it and merging with it (Eva aka social construct/image of yourself). Stating how you tend to get lost into it your "dependency" on it ( quoted from the show itself). It questions multiple things ( I cant phrase or pinpoint the crux of it- of what all these questions surround) but essentially it questions the human psyche in this societal world and how we are so bound by this world, which leads to our purpose on this world as said in the anime, questioning our "instrumentality". Then again the use of this outer being/angels whatever trying to 'understand' these humans which slowly takes form of a human being gradually- especially seen at the end were Asuka becomes mentally scarred when it 'rapes' her mind somewhat forcing her back to face her reality -stripping away at the defenses/ the social construct/image she keeps up- which evidently leads to her thoughts taking on a 180 showing her raw thoughts and emotions.
anyway im just saying all this out of my ass- coming up with it on the spot as i write so i might be wrong.
And if i recall from memory properly - the angels i believe represent the different parts or aspects of the human psyche. ( i cant remember the first one exactly but it wasnt much if im not wrong) but the second one which split up, maybe representing the different personalities each one has and idk again i really might be wrong cause i dont remember exactly. However the impression i get now thinking back, every angel looked different or had different skills or demeanor. One of them was just a large eye and the other had this paper like arm things to attack. How they attacked and what they physically looked like all representing something.

OVERALL - great heckin show even if whatever i said wasn't intended- although I'd like to believe so cause theres a lot of evidence it is. Anyways really good mecha fight scenes- character development-philosophical/psycohological aspects- character designs and music pairing along with the art. though story development took a little beating ( just a little for minute areas). Nevertheless I'm either lowballing or highballing this show- who knows.
