Review of High School DxD
High School DXD is very fan servicey but it has great animation, decent to good characters and a decent story. The opening is awesome and sets you in the right mood for what to expect in the show. Issei, the main protagonist is not the most well developed character, but has some character traits that make him stand out. Rias is easily the most interesting character in this season and usually steals the spotlight. The rest of the supporting cast has some personality, but minor characters are extremely one note and uninteresting. Since this is the first season, there is plenty of world building andlore. but the explanation of the sacred gears is not well explained. For a majority of the series, I liked it better when it was embracing its own absuridity than trying to be a mediorce shonen series. However the last few episodes are a definite highlight. Do not go in expecting a lot of depth, but it you want silly absurd fanservicey fun popcorn entertainment, this is a good choice.
