Review of High School of the Dead

It never ceases to amaze me how some people watch anime shows that they already know they will not enjoy due to its themes, only for the sole purpose of giving it a bad review. This show is called Highschool of the Dead. The cover art shows big-boobed schoolgirls with weapons. It has the ecchi tag. If you somehow expected a shakesperean work about the hubris of man then that's on you. HotD knows what its demographic wants and it delivers it, simple as that. It's not groundbreaking, but it never really intended to be. The plot is somewhat basic and the characters are mostly shallow, butthere is, amazingly enough, SOME character development and even a little bit of serious drama in there.
The zombies are creepy, the girls are cute, the gore is good enough to satisfy while not being too over-the-top. Honestly it's one of the best zombie animes out there. The plot, while basic and even derivative at times, is decent enough to leave you wanting more.
The only bad thing I can say about HotD is that it really deserved a sequel but it never got one. Shame.

Overall, HotD is a very nice experience if you're into Zombies and Boobs. If you're not then you're better off watching something else.
