Review of Texhnolyze

Between the very slow pacing and the confusing (but still good) story, Texhnolyze is definitely not for everyone. However while the story might be slow and takes its time to finish scenes that also makes it so the pacing feels very life like and realistic, as if you were following the characters in real time. It's a very different way of doing things but it's refreshing and interesting. All the characters are very softspoken which leads to the characters having a bigger impact when they lash out, their emotions become stronger. The stronger emotions also helps compensate for the slower pacing. The confusing story also makesit so that the story becomes unpredicteble which really suits the anime well as it is mysterious, leaving you to wonder what is going to happen next. The characters softness in voice combined with the slow pacing also makes them feel very human and you easily get attached too them.

That being said, the characters really lack in empathy and that can be kinda frustrating at times. The slow pacing also makes it so that characters pop in and out when they are needed which makes them feel disconnected from the story and it can be a bit weird. A lot of lose ends are just left out hanging without an explanation or follow up, even if they sometimes are not about the main cast they still matter and will leave a unsatisfied taste.

Texhnolyze also has a really amazing and beautiful art style, it's gritty, it's depressing and it's kind of eerie (especially in the world above) which is very suiting for the theme of the story.

Texhnolyze is one of those animes you have to watch at least twice to fully understand the story, but it can be a pain to do so because of the slow pacing.

While it's definitely not for everyone i still think it's worth trying to watch it as the anime is very different and cool.
