Review of Dororo
I wish I could remember more about Dororo. It has only been a season or so since I watched it, but I remember liking it. The art style was beautiful. I thought the fights were well made, the story had been shorted but in a way to make it more succinct. Another surprise was that it also had a relatively good ending. The feudal lord agreeing to sacrifice his firstborn son without hesitation was a nice twist to the biblical stories. I am used to a scenario where people do anything to save their child. They also don't make the feudal lord as blatantly evilin this one; the viewer can even understand his reasons for doing so. Dororo and Hyakkimaru's journey was enjoyable, with them helping the local inhabitants with their demon problems.
Dororo and Hyakkimaru had a great dynamic. I very much enjoyed their interactions with one another. Hyakkimaru animosity towards his family, and their relationship was a treat to watch. I also found it very impressive how Hyakkimaru has dealt with his disability, though that is somewhat offset with his "special eyes." Dororo is a lovable scamp.
I very much enjoyed my time with Dororo, and I recommend watching it.
