Review of Sword Art Online
I did not like this at all. I gave SAO a 3/10 for it is not the worst thing I have seen. Ill bust this down into 2 things , story and characters. Story: the idea was a cool concept of using VR games to a new level and I always wondered what it would be like if VR games got to SAO level. However, This show ruined the idea quite well. When I started the show I thought it would be good, but when episode 3 hit I was just like nope. I decided to finish the season. The plot could have been really good ifthe makers of the show had actually used fundamental elements of what MMORPGS go by. I never saw how Kirito leveled up and almost every episode the time span would jump so far into the future putting me at a loss of "Is this story trying to progress right?" It felt as if the story was more based around playing a game or living a fantasy rather than trying to get out alive. An example being around the newly found romance between kirito and his love interest. When the 2nd part of season one hit the story was worst for it did not have much on the line.
Characters (I'm only doing Kirito and Asuna everyone else is just as one body):
-Kirito might seem like a cool guy but I saw him as a narcissistic jerk who is a god at any game he touches. He proved this in the 2nd arc. I understood a bit more i in the 1st arc but still he is an op character that is not well balanced. His personality is not all that grand and really it is annoying. Doing the whole lone wolf thing just made look like he was too good for anyone. the overall feel of our "hero" is that he is just he is a op loser.
Asuna: I had respect for her at first for for she seemed to be just as strong as Kirito and was a respected leader. But, her character slowly started dying the more time she spent with Kirito. Going from strong fighter a near useless person was a not that great.
Everyone Else: Short and simple, they are a bunch of idiots just like our main male and female leads. They never really realized that the game was not a game, it was a death battle. But no they thought it was sunshine and lollipops. When the 2nd arc came you would think they would have the common sense to never put the nerve gear on ever again, instead do it without question.
In the end SAO is bad, but I've seen worse.
