Review of Sword Art Online

I heard of Sword Art Online when I was in high school. It was trending, very popular amongst my peers and beginners to anime. I never got into it at the time because I was still catching up on One Piece. However, I have bought Netflix a few months ago and noticed it is on there, so I figure I gave it ago, since I got into the isekai/mmo fantasy genre of anime lately. I thought the whole concept of "in order to exit the game, you have to defeat it and if you die, you die in real life" was cliche but fit the theme perfectly. However, the next few episodes after announcing to the gamers felt mainly filler or not much to learn or be entertained by. There were short bursts of epic fights in between certain episode arcs.

The second part of Season 1 is completely different from the first part, and I can see why it lowered SAO's popularity or how good to the audience. I felt that they made up a brand new storyline because they couldn't think of more content for the first half (watch and you'll understand). I personally didn't like the MC's new character design compared to the first one.

But that doesn't stop me from checking out what everyone is watching.
Is it a trash anime? Not completely.
Could it improve? Most likely.
If you have nothing better to watch on Netflix, I would give it a go.

I'll be watching SAO II and other content after it to see if there are any new changes to the story or characters.
