Review of Horimiya
I love this anime, I watched it 3 or more times, guilty pleasure for me. Simple rom com plot with good main character dynamics that people should seek in real life, good art style and animation that creates wholesome atmosphere, music is really memorable (banger for me) and found myself laughing or heart warmed most of the time (cried twice). However, side characters lack detailed story and character development, and the story feels a bit rushed compared to manga. Manga dives deep into side characters, or Miyamura and Horimiya relationship even more than anime, but with its own problems. Manga may feel elongated, but I prefertaking time to build characters which manga does and explains main and side characters' traumas and solve them. In anime, you may feel that some problems aren’t solved or aren't dived more and leads to some questions. I feel giving creators 15-20 episodes instead of 13 may solve that problem but we got a 2nd season instead.
Overall, it’s 10 in my heart, but it’s 7 objectively. It’s not a flawless adaptation, but a good attempt at it. I recommend you watch it if you haven’t read the manga. Manga story wise is better because you may feel that your expectations are not met. It's a short adaptation that all comes down to, so low your expectations. The Advantages that I mentioned really makes me re-watch every time whenever I may feel without any hesitation and without knowing the initial source material, it's a very good rom com anime to watch with your gf or on your own.
