Review of The Eminence in Shadow Season 2

So... that was disappointing. Season 1 was a lot of fun and had me cackling. This one was pretty bad and humor is no longer in the room with us. They managed to cram in multiple storylines in 12 episodes which is impressive. Sad part is, unlike season 1 where this lead to progression, here it meant nothing. The world and characters are stagnant this season. Everyone dumb as rocks, one note and repeating the same lame joke at least 5 times in a row. Someone clearly thought more is better also applies to the rule of three! The first 5 episodes were the worst andI almost gave up on the show, especially when they designated Delta as the fan service. Making the clearly "simple" character that is just beyond icky. It's far to blatant this season as well and shows you the drop in quality.

Lets be real here. Season 1 played it off as a parody and laughed at the edge lord power fantasy.
This season forgot it was a parody and played it straight. It was clearly written as a parody and you can see it peaking out sometimes in the writing but the anime decided to focus on all the wrong things.

Overall this one was painful, cringy and boring. I genuinely couldn't follow the second story (economics lesson) because I didn't understand anyone's motivation for any of it! Literally that entire storyline had one goal, for the girls to renounce the men in their lives (brother / husband / Ex and so on) and pick Cid over them.

I was going to label this as mixed feelings at first but the more I thought about it, the more that was because of the goodwill season 1 left behind. This season was pretty bad, I can't think of a single person I would want to inflect this on!
