Story (3/10): Season 2 slams the brakes on everything that made Season 1 electric. The shift from a revenge driven Viking epic to a slow, moralizing farm arc feels like a soft reset. Episodes crawl by with routine chores and speeches that circle the same pacifist point. There is a character journey buried in here, but stretching it to 24 episodes turns it into homework. Characters (4/10): Thorfinn’s transformation is the core, but it plays like an overcorrection, less growth, more sermon. Einar is earnest yet one note, and the dynamic between them rarely surprises. Ironically, the most compelling thread, Canute’s rise, keeps getting sidelined just when itgets interesting.

Art/Animation (8/10):
WIT/MAPPA level polish is still here: textured backgrounds, careful lighting, solid character acting. Sadly, that craftsmanship mostly frames repetitive, low stakes scenes instead of tense set pieces.

Sound (7/10):
Good score and ambient design, moody when it needs to be, but the music cannot inject momentum where the script withholds it.

Enjoyment (4/10):
If you came for the grit, politics, and knife edge tension of Season 1, this feels like parking the longship in a wheat field. The Farmland Saga meme writes itself.

TL;DR:
A contemplative philosophy arc that could have been powerful in 8 to 12 episodes is padded to 24 and loses the plot’s pulse. Respect the ambition; cannot recommend the execution.
