It baffles me that people can say straight faced that only a few things changed and it mostly is the same as the OG. Yes, the generaly plot line is largely the same, but the results are meaningless if the means re wrong (I think I heard that in some OTHER anime ; ) ), and the road to the end vastly changed, mostly to the worst. The story is mostly shallow, in no small part because the first two movies failed to properly estabilish characters, it mostly follows the last few episodes of R2 the amount of plotholes and cut scenes are as you wouldexpect from a series-made-movie, but there are still important scenes cut and some things still don't make any sense.
