Review of My Love Story!!
Warning possible Spoilers Pretty much the whole point of this anime is that size and appearance doesn't matter to a persons heart and in my eyes that is amazing. The story centres around Takeo Gouda who is one big, tall and clumsy guy who hasn't had much luck with the ladies whereas his best friend gets all the ladies until one day Takeo meets Rinko Yamato and his luck finally changed for the better. I really enjoyed the story even though it doesn't have a end goal it is mainly about the relationship between Takeo and Rinko in their everyday lives and I generally thought this was anice and relaxing story to enjoy which it was, it was very enjoyable to watch.
There was a lot of other sub-plots that did happen along the way which would challenge Takeo's and Rinko's relationship like other people who had crushes on them, stuff that happens with each other's families and even situations that had something to do with their friends or being in dangerous situations like being in a building fire or trapped in the woods it generally felt like a fun adventure with these guys, But the one concern I had with the story is that during the final 4 episodes the feeling I had from the start suddenly started to dip I don't know if it was because of the situations that happened in these episodes or something else, but other than that I really enjoyed the story.
Now the characters were really fun to watch seeing the relationship between Takeo and Rinko is probably one of the most adorable things I've seen even though they are completely different size's and height's they fit so well together plus they never really go though any bad stuff that many other anime couples go through for once it just decided to go for the fun and happy route and it was on hell of a ride seeing these characters get past obstacles in their relationship like holding hands, first kiss, supporting each other when either one is doing something that is difficult for them it was very sweet seeing these two go through this stuff.
But that doesn't mean the other characters don't shine too, Makoto who is Takeo's best friend is probably one of the best, best friend characters that I have seen because even though he is really monotone he generally cares for Takeo and gives him helpful advice with his relationship with Rinko, Makoto's sister was another interesting character because she actually had a crush on Takeo when they were both younger, but of course she had lost her chance and instead of going against Rinko she decides to help them both out while also having to take care one of her own problems and this showed she was a very thoughtful person.
There was also a sub-plot between Takeo's and Rinko's group of friends and it was also interesting seeing them develop because at first they weren't really interested then over time they slowly grew to like each other so it was fun seeing other characters develop other than Takeo and Rinko.
I really liked the artstyle it resembled Your Lie in April which is why I thought this show looked beautiful most of the time and it used speech bubbles like you see in comics or manga's which were used to show the characters inner thought's which felt different and unique for once since I haven't seen another anime do this before or since.
This was another anime that had food as a big focus of the anime, but it was sweet and funny seeing Takeo's reactions to Rinko's many desserts or sweets that she gave to him over the course of the show, the comedy in this show was golden I hardly stopped laughing it was that good and there is some love triangles introduced at certain points, but I thought these were actually good because it tested the strength of Takeo and Rinko's relationship.
Overall I thought this anime was adorable and very entertaining if you're looking for a sweet and funny Romance for once instead of a tragic one then watch this it'll definitely leave you laughing by the end.
