Review of Tsukigakirei
First of all, it could have been great, but the art somewhat ruins the entire plot along with one in a million situations that make the story less and less believable. The art, my god what have they done, you get to have entire scenery with 3D models that look no better than the basic things you could get with a free software, it hurts the eye, truly. It erases all poetry within a scene, as they considered viewers would have their eye pointed at the main characters, what a mistake. It happens at least 3 times per episode. Then, the story, ( will contain spoilers ).We get to meet two socially clumsy characters, that never experienced first love whatsoever, but they know they have feelings towards each other. After a lot of struggle and uneasy situations, the main protagonists finally get to know each other as they desperately fall in love. And right when the story gets interesting, they decided to end it all, by saying she was going to move to another city. Even if it was highly predictable as it was suggested in the beginning, the surprising thing would have been that she didn't move. Anyway, as HE learns the news, he decides that he wants to go the same school, therefore he studies hard, until very late everyday. But because he is a total moron, he cannot even get to succeed at the exam. Eventually when she moves, he doesn't even come to see her, nobody knows why, he realizes he wants to see her only when she is already gone. So basically this is a story about disillusionment, about love that cannot happen between those two, as it suggests that both of them will only be sad without each other. It aims at being realistic but it is far from being the truth, I don't know how people could rate it higher as it was a true disappointment. It leaves a poor taste in the mouth, as the moral of the series doesn't stand out at all, we get one "romantic" replica at the very end, saying he'll love her wherever she is... wow... That is all for me, thanks for reading !
