Review of Tsukigakirei
As the final episode concluded, I was left with a bittersweet feeling. This anime is by no means meant to be sad and yet, it evoked sadness within me. The child-like way of interaction causes me to be reminiscent of my time as a middle-schooler, and the fun that I had. The plot was actually very simple, with nothing that is very complicated happening. However, what made it shine amongst the many other Romance genre anime is simple: its execution. It did a great job of portraying how a typical relationship between a shy boy and a girl forms and the possible events that occurs ina Japanese school setting. This anime also paints an ideal form of romantic relationships between middle schoolers, while keeping daily interactions between characters very realistic which is achieved by few anime. The jokes that they make, the dialogues between each other, and the depiction of how a shy boy interacts are all something that I, as a middle school student, would say.
“We are most alive when we're in love.”
This quote clearly capture the premise of this anime- simple yet, powerful.
