Review of Vermeil in Gold

Kinsou no Vermeil: Gakeppuchi Majutsushi wa Saikyou no Yakusai to Mahou Sekai wo Tsukisusumu was honestly a lot better than I was expecting it to be, from the premise alone it seems like it's gonna be another one of those painfully generic fantasy high school shows that there are just way too many of at this point but I was pleasantly surprised by the characters. Our main character Alto actually had some drive to him and wasn't spineless like the vast majority of protagonists in this genre, I really enjoyed seeing him push himself and how strong he was, and Vermeil of course was ajoy to watch, loved their interactions and relationship a whole lot (also I liked Lilia and Chris a lot too).

Outside of these characters this show is fairly generic but if you like shows like this (which I do somehow still seem to) then it's definitely a cut above the mid thanks to the characters and overall fairly more interesting story, I did think the backstory elements were handled really well too actually. Definitely recommend if you're looking for something from this genre!
