Review of Chainsaw Man
This animation is quite different from the PV. While action is the main genre, the lack of compelling action scenes was a significant drawback. Nevertheless, MAPPA's unique atmosphere and sensibility blended well with the original material, making it an enjoyable watch. Kensuke Ushio's music was particularly outstanding. Without the music, I might have dropped it midway. Overall, the first season turned out to be quite good. There are definitely some overhyped aspects, but it performed well among the anime of 2022! Story: 6/10 The manga has a fairly interesting storyline, but the 12 episodes of the anime didn’t feature many standout episodes. Music: 9/10 Exceptional. It fits perfectly with the visuals.Kensuke Ushio does not disappoint. The upbeat tracks and the sad melodies were all perfect. The piece during the flashback of Himeno really hit me emotionally.
Characters: 7/10
Denji's personality is consistently perverted, which is entertaining. I’m a bit sensitive to cringeworthy dialogue, so I found some of Power's lines embarrassing, but other than that, everything was good.
Voice Acting: 9/10
The voice acting is excellent. I usually shy away from the high-pitched voices of Japanese female voice actors, but the voice for Makima was perfect.
Animation: 5/10
As expected from a foundational studio, the overall animation quality is quite decent, but the fact that most of the action scenes were done in 3D is a significant drawback. It diminishes the overall sense of speed and reduces the excitement.
Despite the many ups and downs and certain disappointing aspects, the music and the unique warm visuals kept reminding me of this anime and left a lasting impression.
In conclusion, I recommend this anime.
