Review of Taisho Otome Fairy Tale

My favorite genre in anime is romance, so I do come with a very heavy and criticizing knife hand to any romance anime. I will have to say that for this anime though, I have maybe 1 complaint and the rest is just over arcing praise for this anime. I'll start with what I don't like, because it is so short I can just breeze right past it. Honestly my only complaint is that I wish there was more scenes with the cat. I'm not joking that is probably my only complaint about this anime is that there wasn't enough time spent with the cat. Now thatmy complaints are out of the way let's talk about how this anime is oh very good romance anime. Now the first thing I wanna know is that this romance anime it was written by a woman, so a lot of the things that we would normally see has creepy or pedophilic, really doesn't bother people that much because I think it was written with the intent to actually just be a normal romance. I don't know how to write that in a better way, so please excuse that. I'm not a professional writer LOL. Like for instants the main female protagonist is 15 and is small, and the male protagonist is 17 and he is tall, but the thing is, is that the family he comes from are known to be taller than most. It is mentioned multiple times throughout the show, the smallest of the female character is also a part of her journey in the anime to overcome what people think of her and how she thinks of herself. Usually we would see that and see a Loli waifu, but this anime is different. Also what this anime does differently than most of these kinds of romance animes is that there are a lot of cute anime girls I edit, But usually that kin start a weird harem. This anime does not have that they have individual characters with individual feelings and lives and they portrayed had very organically and nicely. You start hating one of the characters immediately for help bitchy and out of pocket she is, but when you get to know her and you see her grow as a character, she ends up being a very likable character at the end.

I would also like to add to that, these characters are very genuine. You don't see that in a lot of media, Anime or not, I don't see a genuine characters like this a lot. When these characters are sad I feel sad, when these characters are happy, I feel happy and when these characters are going through really tough emotions, I feel like I'm right there with them. It's a very emotionally mature anime, and I give it praise for that. Not to mention how the two main characters grow from one another and show each other that they do truly love each other even though the circumstances of how they got together is very specific and outdated. I truly feel like these two characters were meant for each other and I could see that through how they act.

I also see a lot of reviews online about this anime and the hatred they have for the main characters personalities, and honestly I don't get it, I understand, but at the same time I don't get it. People complain that the main male protagonist is a Incel that's"It's not a phase mom" personality, but honestly I don't think they Watch the show with open eyes and ears. If you watched the show, you would see why the male protagonist is the way he is, You would see why he's depressed you would see what he is lonely, and you would honestly empathize with that, I know I empathize with him. Also the hatred towards the main female protagonist in her undying love and happiness throughout the show, I don't I understand why people are hating on her for being happy. I know so many people in real life that are like her and it's not because they're dying on the inside, it's just because they are happy people, and they just are the way that they are.

All in all, this anime was honestly one of the most overlooked anime, in 2021 in the romance genre. I really liked this anime, I thought it was very cute and very genuine and you don't see a lot of romance animes like this. If you're a fan of romance anime, and you like a whole some stories with a tiny bit of history, because this anime does take place in early 20th century Japan, then please give this anime I tried, it's not a masterpiece romance anime that'll take your breath away, But it is a very good wholesome anime that'll make you smile and leave a good feeling in your heart.
