Review of My Clueless First Friend

Ok, so... I feel like this should've been a short film or something. The premise is your typical odd couple budding romance story. But it is a liiiiiittle different. So everyone bullies Akane and calls her the grim reaper and says you'll be cursed if you hang around her. But Taiyou, the new transfer student, rather than just ignoring those people, actively believes the rumors, but just thinks that being the grim reaper is super cool. So he sticks to her like glue, hoping to be cursed, without ever realizing that none of that is true. This show does have super sweet moments that'll warmyour heart, but anytime they reuse the same gag of Taiyou not comprehending that anything people say to or about Akane is supposed to be an insult, it just gets super exhausting; both watching him be so oblivious but also never getting to see these characters get reprimanded for their behavior. So many other shows have done this dynamic and so many have done it better, in my opinion. Their relationship doesn't really evolve past the first episode. Ya, you get to see them in more cute scenarios and get more cute interactions. But I really feel like I could've written this review after just watching episode 1 and my opinions wouldn't have been any different.
