Review of Don't Toy with Me, Miss Nagatoro

Ah yes the magic of the controversial first episode , you know the one like redo of healer ? that drives people crazy and tries to fan the flame wars , get free PR and in the end, does nothing to portray whether the anime is actually good or not? yep it's one of those first episode bandwagon anime where you join a faction (love or hate the show) and are called a caveman if you aren't a part of one camp which will eventually force you to watch it and develop an "opinion" anyhow. I have never gotten bullied so I will not try to act as I understandbut yes I have been called out, ostracized,
publically shamed once or twice in school but that is not considered bullying where I am from its just " AAJ KA BAKRA"
meaning today it's me tomorrow it'll be someone else. What I can tell tho there are times where I do get uncomfortable with the
way paisen is treated but hey it's anime, you won't let this get to you now after all you have seen now :3

Now is the show actually any good,

Simply put it is a VERY AVERAGE run of the mill tsundere rom-com which happened to have ( for better or worse ) a very strong start
The way it tried to stand out in the very first episode and actually managed to keep its theme of (let's just call it teasing please?)
relevant even in the later episodes is commendable. There are shows I personally feel deserve more recognition since nagatoro is
basically, the same stuff fireworks festival, cultural festival, beach, swimsuit , cosplay, game episodes are way more common
in many romcom anime than you would believe (or like )

but hey it's not all bad, just very average.It just starts being the same SOL, rom-com with
hints of harem thrown around to keep the BEST GIRL HYPE ALIVE.

The characters are original and love those smirks and am happy that the girls do horse around like how the show tried to sell itself
the first episode and are fun but some of them (like Yoshi) remain very underutilized is what I feel. The fanservice is not subtle at all
and is a classic at-your-face-shounen-accidental-lucky-lecher tho this has a lot of fans of its own.They do feel a bit iffy sometimes like
why senpai is the chosen one by nagatoro , but they do try to respect senpai's feelings at times and at others, they are way too ruthless,
maybe just cause I was digging in too much in the anime forums or I guess these are plot points saved for later ( whenever that may be ).

sound is the best part this has a very creative and fun opening sequence which is bearable to watch and sounds pretty good toothe ed is
slice of life ish and not to my liking. The VAs do an awesome job here especially sakura ( the seductive one ? ) and gamo chan(best smirk/girl) being very close to how they did sound in your heads while you would read the manga.

animation and art very standard rom-com level but what I really like here is the use of different outfits in different scenarios even
if they are fanservice at least we get to experience them in something other than joshi uniforms and something like you know
a normal person will wear?

It's a decent watch and forget kind of show, the manga and story does have the potential to get even better by the looks of things but
I don't believe it has rewatch value unless season 2 makes a real good comeback which I do think is possible just look at 3d kanojo.
