Review of A Whisker Away
The first act of the film is it's strongest point. There are some really neat scenes that immediately showed the audience that the line between "cat" and "girl" were already blurred, and I enjoyed those a lot. The main character, Miyo, shines her brightest I think at these points. You can't help but understand her desire to escape the world every now and then and become a cat. However, once the second act rolls around, I began to become frustrated, because Miyo's role is a lot less active. Some characters felt like they were robbing Miyo of some very emotionally important scenes, because she was offdoing something else. Miyo and her love interest, Hinode, have the most interesting dynamic, but they spend a large portion of screen time away for each other this time.
I don't exactly have much to say about the supporting cast and Hinode nearly as much, but it was a nice, fun movie. 7/10
