Review of Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion
Code geass is one of the best made animes, if not the best, I have ever seen. The characters, plot, pacing, and everything else were magnificent. The characters, except Nina, would all be realistic and developed throughout the show. They also managed to be likeable no matter what side of the fight they were on. However, Nina again was terrible and is one of the worst characters I have ever had the displeasure of seeing. In addition, the characters went through many emotions that you felt while watching. There were happy moments that gave you a smile, sad moments that made you cry, desperate momentswhere you felt utterly defeated, and there are almost infinite more examples. The plot of the show is expansive covering serious topics, while still remaining to be enjoyable and light hearted at times. The plot is exemplified by the pacing of this anime. With no exceptions, this show has the best pacing I have ever seen in any entertainment. A twenty minute episode feels like it packs in over an hour of story without anything feeling rushed at all. The animation was good, but I am not too invested in animation quality so I can’t say much. The fight scenes were intense and played out perfectly with the chess-like strategy theme of them. I would give this show a 9/10 and not 10/10 fully for the fact that I prefer more comedy focused anime. However even if I can’t say it is perfect for me, I know this anime is extremely well made with very few examples of anything in the same caliber.
