Review of Neon Genesis Evangelion
i am moved to the core, i didn't expect that it will leave that much of an impact on me. there was actually not one thing that i didn't like about this anime. yeah ok there were a couple of long philosophical monologues (and normally they bother me) but they fit the story and overall atmosphere so well. i really liked the combination of worldly themes, such as machines and human emotions, and supernatural themes, such as angels, parallel realities etc. but most of all i liked the music tbh, especially the ed (and especially that it contained 38746284713 different versions of the same song!),i haven't skipped the ed even once. it was just more than a jazzy song. op + ed created the perfect capsule for evangelion - the op being more of a catchy, activating tune, preparing the viewer for action and shonen classics and the ed relieves the tension, gives you a depression feat. glass of martini at the bar - vibe.
and also i don't understand how so many people hate shinji and judge him for his behaviour, accuse him of being weak and whiny. yes, whiny characters make me aggressive as well but that wasn't the case at all with shinji!! this anime is about psychological issues after all, it's not like you'd expect a one piece character here. so give shinji a chance guys!
