Review of Bakemonogatari

Bakemonogatari, what can I say about this work? Here is a list of points/aspect that I found to draw my interest and attention. Story 9/10: The story remains intriguing each moment as it explains supernatural happenings and the origin/cause of these abnormalities. The story blends together the genres of suspense, comedy, action and drama so brilliantly that it will keep you on the edge of your seat. The story of Bakemonogatari is praiseworthy for its uniqueness for storytelling that will leave you hungering for more. Art 9/10: Bakemonogatari displays an art style that you are not likely to find easily. The unconventional use of irregular angled shotsand quick frames of single words/short sentences sets the art of the anime in a league of their own. These quick word frames pulled from the light novel from which it is adapted from makes it a memorable watching experience. The unique art style of the anime can cause watchers to react differently; they may enjoy it or dislike it. To me the art style fits with the story and how it portrays the characters.

Characters 9/10: A better array of unique characters you could not have asked for. Here is the variety of characters you can find. A perverted male protagonist that is cut from a different cloth compared to other such characters. A brainy bespectacled girl who just about knows everything and is probably the dream girl of quite a few people within the anime and the community itself (by the way, she has some melons on her if you know what I am saying). A girl who has developed a distrust of people due to circumstances learns to open up to people once again. She enjoys seeing herself as a unique character and pretending to have yandere qualities (though sometimes it does not seem to be an act).
These are but a few of the sort of characters that you will find.

Main review:
Overall the anime makes you aware of Japanese/worldwide legends and how people could come in contact with them. Our main character seems to be the epicentre of these mysterious happenings as he encounters one after another and then finds ways to deal with them. The story uses just the right amount of episodes to solve these problems that help show character development and leads you to feeling closer to the characters. Due to the uniqueness of storytelling, art style and characters will lead to a person enjoying the anime, hating it or simply dropping it because of a certain aspect not being to their liking. Each watcher’s opinion may differ on how they found the anime.

This is an anime I would absolutely recommend to any person if they enjoy something that focuses on story with more dialog and narration. But Bakemonogatari does not simply focus on story the whole time, great moments of laughter can be found as well as short scenes of fanservice.

So if you want to treat yourself with an anime that is different, then Bakemonogatari is a must watch.
