Review of Redline

This is one of the best movies I've ever seen!! Story 9/10 Redline is the best example of a stupid action movie; I'd say about 80% of the movie is explosions. JP is the underdog to win the interplanetary race known as Redline, but in this race anything goes including guns, missiles, flamethrowers, and doing whatever it takes to win. Add in the fact this movie takes place on a planet where the President is Hellbent on killing all the racers and you've got one amazing action movie! This entire movie (with the exception of the 20% of character development) is one long adrenaline rush and that's what makesthis movie a masterpiece. I couldn't take my eyes off the screen because everything was happening so fast and it was so awesome! There are a couple of side stories i.e. the romance between JP and Sonoshee, but the creators make it very clear that the star of this movie is the race itself.

Animation 10/10

Without great animation this movie wouldn't have been anywhere near as good. From the character animation, the animation of the cars, the racetrack, the designs of the aliens, it all looks great and is perfectly animated.

The animator's really knew how to convey the unbelievable speed of the cars like how whenever JP uses his nitro his car is literally flying over the racetrack and he's being pulled back into his seat by sheer amount g-forces pressing on him.

Each race has a very unique looking car with it's own powers like one racer's car looks like it has some spider legs on it and then another racer's car transforms into a giant robot. The alien characters are unique as well with most of them having multiple arms and some looking like cyborgs.

Characters 10/10

Does anyone remember that American cartoon Wacky Races? Well, the racers in this movie are pretty similar which each having a unique back story and personality.

Lynchman and Johnny Boya are a couple of anti-hero bounty hunters.
Machine Head is the champion everyone hopes to beat.
BosBos and BoiBoi are a couple of magical girl/idols who really like to show off their assets.
And, of course, there are the movie's leads, JP and Sonoshee, who just want to win for their love of racing.

There are other characters like JP's best friend and mechanic Frisbee and several other racers, but like I said the race itself is the star of the movie.

Even though the characterization in this movie maybe thin, the characters have enough backstory to them and enough personality to make them all memorable.

Overall 10/10

Redline is an extremely fun and over the top, in the best way, action movie. The movie is a huge adrenaline rush while also including some story and characterization. The animation maybe the best I've ever seen for an action movie! I highly recommend this movie to anyone!
