Plot Summary: A group of six sixth-grade-age childhood friends drift apart after one of them, Meiko "Menma" Honma, dies in an accident. Years after the incident, the leader of the group, Jinta Yadomi, has withdrawn from society, does not attend high school, and lives as a recluse. One summer day, the ghost of an older-looking Menma appears beside him and asks to have a wish granted, reasoning that she cannot pass on into the afterlife until it is fulfilled. Story: 9/10 The story hit me pretty hard as the episodes further and further explained everything as a whole. I was in tears for the last 4 episodes. Itmay be another story about loss and grief and the after effects of what we all go through, but just like anything else if the subject matter isn't handled properly, the end result can fall flat on it's face. Anohana: The Flower We Saw That Day doesn't do that it.

Art: 10/10

The visuals are superb. The main characters all look as unique as their personalities. Though i may be a bit biased as I'm an artist myself. You can tell that a lot of time and effort was placed into every scene. They wanted you to feel like you are right there with Menma and the gang.

Music/Sound: 9/10

The opening song "Aoi Shiori" or Blue Bookmark is a perfect fit for the story they wanted to tell.

The other Composers include Haruka Tomatsu, Saori Hayami, Yui Makino and REMEDIOS.

When the music needs to be somber, boy is it just that. but there is also upbeat tunes that play throughout the anime as well.

As for the Voice Cast, i decided to go with the dubbed version for an anime this time around and i didn't regret it at all thankfully :)

All the Voice Actors/Actresses bring the characters to life and really nailed their roles. Special shout-out to the voice actress of Menma, Xanthe Huynh (Dubbed) she got the most emotion out me lol

If you are looking for an engaging and emotional roller-coaster of an anime.( I mean that in a good way) then this the anime for you.

If the subject matter isn't your cup of tea though, then you'd best stay clear. It's definitely something you need to be in the mood to watch.

Final Score: 10/10

Anohana: The Flower We Saw That Day, gets a MUST SEE stamp of approval from myself. It's 11 episodes long and is in both Subbed and Dubbed.
