Review of High School of the Dead

(as written on The Hateful Anime Truth on Facebook) Disclaimer: The following review is opinion-only. You can take it with a grain of salt, just don't flame me over a frickin' OPINION... which apparently 99% of these people don't HAVE. Once again, this'll be one-tier, short, because there really isn't much to say about it. What do you get when you mix Dead Rising and toss in one of its psychopaths in, Left 4 Dead with its 'move from point A to point B' style, and Resident Evil, with a story that... is non-existent... you'd probably get Left 4 Dead 3. Now add a Japanese high school setting.You get Highschool of the Dead... or Highschool of the Left 4 Dead Rising. Seriously, the story was pretty much, a giant outbreak of zombies from out of nowhere... so totally not Resident Evil, and thus a bunch of high school kids decide to fight through to save themselves from the zombies trying to turn them into one of their own.

...but really, who cares about that stuff when 80% of this anime is PANTYSHOTS, PANTYSHOTS, BOOBSHOTS, PANTYSHOTS! There's a reason I'm one tiering this review, and it's because of the almighty works of FANSERVICE. I cannot watch an anime that has a pantyshot or a boobshot every 3 minutes or so. I may be exaggerating, but the moment you get to the bath scene you will understand WHY this anime is so bloody overrated.

Zombies? Really? Forget that, let's give you another pantyshot! That always fixes things.

Like in my Ghost in the Shell: S.A.C. review, I have to give this a fair to poor rating. I'll be lenient on this one and give it a 6. While the story and the concept of the whole anime is good, and the art style and music choice well done, along with the characters being superb, the fanservice just kills it for me. It almost went into Ikkitousen territory... OR WORST.

If you can out-pantyshot Kampfer, seek therapy.
