So Sword Art Online, a controversial one, most people think it's good, some fewer people think it's bad. However for me it's obvious that the fewer people that say it sucks are completly right; and here's why. TOPIC NUMBER ONE!. Story: So Welcome to Sword Art Online"(10 outta 10 game of the year. but too much water by IGN). First of all the game itself isn't detailed enough to even be in the plot, there are very few explanations about the game's mechanics and characteristics, and when they do explain them, they do it for plot convenience; so naturally as a good writer you make it be theprimary thing that all the characters interact with on the anime.
Then there is the little twist at the start, which is actually kinda clever, and makes up for a pretty promising first episode. but can you guess what happens next? a bunch of generic events, that have little to no generic consequences, and then they play the Sims for a uncomfortable amount of time(you will get it if you see it), and next the first act of the anime ends abruptly with a extremely poorly made plot twist, which is when the story of the anime shifts to Rapunzel shounen version(it will become abundantly clear once you watch it).
So basically, the story is poorly detailed, the main plotline even thought it seems promissing it avoids any oppurtunity that it has to be good, and is very generic.
But hold on, that ain't even the worse part(Well actually it might be).

TOPIC NUMBER ZWEI
Art:
it's a shame that the anime sucks, because you can see that a lot of work went into it, the anime is very pretty, and that's something that no matter how much you hate it, you can't deny. the scenary is very pretty everything is well animated, and it makes you wonder what if they had put all that effort in something that's actually good.

TOPIC ACT THREE
Sound:
Just like the art, i would like seeing the guys that worked on the sound working on something else. it might not be the best ever, but it's pretty good, the openings and endings are awesome, the sound effects are cool. the character's voices are pretty good you can tell the anime had a pretty good budget.

TOPIC FOR
Characters:
So picture a generic anime protagonist, nothing wrong with it right? so think about his personality and... nope that's enough for a character. that's Kirito in a nutshell, it's like they made a D&D character sheet and just added the name Kirito and changed the alignment to "being cool". and they did that with all characters, Asuna for instance is the same thing except her alignment is "Hentai lady"; and it also seems that they delivered their character sheets to a DM, that only writes the story anytime someone says a word.

TOP FIVE
Enjoyment:
Well the progression itself isn't all bad, it's just kinda of boring sometimes, most of the plotpoints are pretty generic and don't tie with the story, even thought it seems that it should, but besides that, it can be enjoyed if you don't mind it being generic and bland. However beware, if you are like me and you like analyzing what you just saw, there is a 200% that you will explode because of how retarted the anime is, and because of the infinite amount of plotholes it holds.

Topic six
Overall:
SAO sucks, i don't get it what people see of genius in this, the story besides being generic is poorly made, the characters's personality can be written in two words, except for one guy which appears twice that needs three words to describe, the best episodes are Meh, except for one or two moments that are actually pretty cool.
no matter how good the art and sounds in a anime are, they can't save a crappy anime from being crappy.
4/10 The studio should have spent money somewhere else.
