Review of Monster
Monster is one of a kind. It's an anime that has a lot to say with a few words, it makes you wonder what kind of monster a human can be when driven to a certain limit. It makes you question whether people are evil or not. I've heard many people compare this anime to Death Note and I can see why. The bold anti-hero against the impending evil. While they do have their similarities, they tackle them in different ways. While Death Note deals with the idea of which is the "better side" of humanity; Monster tackles which is the worst, and delves deepinto forbidden territory to answer them. It doesn't give you answers but mostly questions, questions that can make you truly answer them completely.
I've seen anime and movies that explore the whole idea of morality. How someone can truly be evil because of the past experiences they've had growing up and how they bring them in the present, but Monster deals with it with so much more and makes you like a character both as the evil demon and both as the tragic character. Monster doesn't let you pick a side, it merely shows you each and makes you decide whether or not you will since just like in light and dark, there's always a shadow; a GRAY AREA. And you're left with a question waiting for an answer: Who is the real monster?
