Review of Monster

Review in English/Deutsch English: Monster is an anime with a very interesting narrative structure, you watch the episode and you try to understand how everything connects, with the plot and what happens at the end of the episode it all makes sense. In retrospect, the pacing of the main storyline seems rather slow, but it's perfect for the narrative structure. The subplots are interesting and solving them leads to progression in the main plot. Many characters are introduced and none of them are boring, their conversations are attentive and enjoyable to follow. Many topics that are discussed and events are great starting points for your own conversations. One of themain topics of the series is the trolley problem (and related topics, such as whether all lives are worth the same).

From the middle of the series it gets very mystical and gets a slightly paranormal touch through the picture books and their stories.

With Johann, Monster has a very interesting character that you would love to know everything about.

Personally, I think the ending could have been done better, but other than that, Monster is one of the best thriller and Seinen anime I've ever seen.

Monster ist ein Anime mit einer sehr interessanten Erzählstruktur, man schaut die Folge an und versucht zu verstehen wie alles zusammenhängt, mit dem Plot und mit dem Geschehnis am Ende der Folge ergibt dann alles einen Sinn.

Retrospektive betrachtet scheint das Tempo im Hauptgeschehen eher langsam zu sein, aber für die Erzählstruktur ist es perfekt. Die Nebengeschehen sind interessant und das Lösen dieser führt zu einem Fortschritt im Hauptgeschehen.

Viele Charaktere werden eingebracht und keines von ihnen ist langweilig, man folgt ihren Gesprächen aufmerksam und vergnüglich. Viele Themen die besprochen werden und Geschehnisse sind tolle Ansätze für eigene Gespräche.

Eines der Hauptthemen der Serie ist das Trolley-Problem (und verwandte Themen, z.B. ob alle Leben gleich viel wert sind).

Ab der Mitte der Serie wird es durch die Bilderbücher und deren Geschichten sehr mystisch und bekommt ein leicht paranormalen Touch.

Mit Johann hat man einen sehr interessanten Charakter über den man am liebsten alles wissen würde.

Persönliche finde ich, dass man das Ende hätte besser machen können, aber ansonsten ist Monster eines der besten Thriller und Seinen Anime die ich je gesehen habe.
