Review of Nura: Rise of the Yokai Clan - Demon Capital

A good anime on its own but as a sequel it took a really wrong direction. The first season was really something special with its mix of romance, human life and youkai world. This anime, however, ditched all that and became all about the youkai world and strongly resembles your typical shounen battle anime. Nothing wrong with that, but after watching the first season I was really hoping for more of the same and thus I'm really disappointed. The main characters human friends went from main characters to side characters which was the biggest downer for me. The romance aspect was cut down to almost none existent. Themain character's personality was changed from Mary Sue to more appropriate for 12-year old. Which is not a bad thing if it was like that from the beginning. But changing it in the middle of the story is not something I'd like to see.

And last, everything deemed to be strong in the first season turned out to really be kinda weak. This is a really common thing in shounen battle animes and really hits the point home why I didn't like this season as much as the last.

To sum up again, this season is fundamentally different from the first season and went, I think, in all the wrong directions. Other than that, it was a solid battle shounen anime.
